1. Capture (transfer) video from your camcorder.

Capturing video is easy. Just plug your camcorder in to a Firewire (IEEE-1394) port, even while GEAR is running!

GEAR Video lets you control your camcorder with standard controls. You can watch the video and hear the audio, even while you are capturing.

You can start and stop capturing different scenes while the video continues to play. Just press "Start Capture" and "Stop Capture".

You can also capture video from your webcam while you capture audio from your soundcard!

2. Encode video to DVD format (MPEG-2). GEAR 8 includes a fast, high-quality MPEG encoder. Just select the clips you want to encode, and select the bitrate (higher bitrate for higher quality, lower bitrate to increase the amount of video you can fit on your DVD).

This process converts the video from your camcorder"s format (DV) to the proper format for DVDs. GEAR Video can also convert DivX video files, Windows Media Video, or Microsoft DVR-MS (Windows XP Media Center Edition recorded video files) to DVD-Video format!
